08:391 MHz serial EEPROM with 1 Mbit
STMicroelectronics has introduced 1MHz two-wire serial EEPROMs in 256-Kbit, 512-Kbit and 1-Mbit densities, compatible with I2C Fast-Mode-Plus allowing data rates up to 2.5-times faster than the I2C Fast-mode. Operating at 1MHz, the M24M01-HR is able to complete a 1-Mbit data transaction in 1 second; the 256-Kbit M24256-BHR in a quarter of a second; and the 512-Kbit M24512-HR in half a second. The two-wire serial EEPROM supports multiple access modes, including byte-write mode as well as 64, 128 and 256-byte page-write modes, random and sequential read modes, automatic address incrementing. As well as easing design in, these modes help engineers optimize system performance and power consumption. A write-control input is provided, while three chip-enable pins allow up to eight devices on a single bus. Also aiding design-in for low-voltage or standard-voltage systems, all three densities are available in variants operating from 1.8V to 5.5V or 2.5V to 5.5V.
Samples of the 256-Kbit, 512-Kbit and 1-Mbit devices are available in the SO-8 packages. Samples in TSSOP packaging are available in 256-Kbit and 512-Kbit densities. Unit pricing, in high-volume quantities, is: $1.40 for the 1-Mbit device; $0.80 for 512 Kbit; and $0.55 for 256 Kbit.

08:38Timing solutions for 1.5V
IDT announces the availability of a family of timing devices designed for use in ultra-mobile PCs (UMPCs). These devices minimally require 1.5V power supply. The devices help extend the wireless signal range of the UMPC and improve the bandwidth, resulting in faster data transfer rates and improving the end user’s mobile Internet experience. They do this by supporting spread spectrum for reducing electromagnetic interference (EMI) and supporting programmable slew rate for reducing radio frequency interference (RFI). The chips feature a 6mm by 6mm micro lead frame (MLF) package. IDT also features pin-compatible UMPC timing devices for automotive and industrial applications. These devices are designed for use in applications such as automotive infotainment, embedded and automation systems that require an industrial operating temperature range (-40°C to +85°C). The family is currently shipping in production and is available in 32 pins to 56 pins with QFN and SSOP packages.
