In addition, the design complies with FCC Part 15 Level B EMI requirements. The reference design addresses all functional blocks of the adapter, utilizing several of ON Semiconductor’s power management devices and drawing from its leading discrete component portfolio to achieve superior efficiency performance.
Key Products in the Reference Design Include
* NCP1027: This high voltage switcher includes a power MOSFET together with a startup current source, all directly connected to the bulk capacitor. To prevent lethal runaway in low input voltage conditions, an adjustable brown-out circuit blocks the activity until a sufficient input level is reached. Offered in a PDIP-7 package, the NCP1027 is priced at $0.97 per unit in 1,000-unit quantities.
* MURS160: This 1 ampere (A), 600 volt (V) Ultrafast Rectifier is offered in an SMB package and priced at $0.20 per unit in 2,500-unit quantities.
* MBRS360: This 3 A, 60 V Schottky Rectifier is offered in an SMC package and priced at $0.33 per unit in 2,500-unit quantities.
* MMSD4148: This 100 V Switching Diode is offered in an SOD-123 package and priced at $0.04 per unit in 10,000-unit quantities.
* MMSZ5241B: This 500 mW Zener Diode, offered in an SOD-123 package and priced at $0.04 per unit in 3,000-unit quantities. All of these devices are RoHS compliant and are delivered in Pb-free packages.
ON Semiconductor has a documentation package for the 16 W ac-dc adapter reference design, including description, schematics, bill-of-materials, Gerber files and evaluation guidelines.
The 1.5-volt ProASIC3 A3P015 device offers up to 350 MHz system performance, 49 I/Os, and 1 Kb of nonvolatile Flash ROM. The FPGAs offer the ability to bridge between two different I/O voltages levels and 1 Kb of on-chip memory, potentially eliminating the need for discrete devices. Used in the ProASIC3 and IGLOO architectures, a Versatile core cell is automatically used as combinatorial or sequential logic by the Actel Libero Integrated Design Environment (IDE), enabling more efficient routing, flexibility and device utilization when compared with fixed-architecture CPLD solutions.
Pricing and Availability
The IGLOO AGL015 and ProASIC3 A3P015 FPGAs will sample in March with volume production in Q2 2008. The devices are offered in 8x8 mm single-row quad flat no-lead (QFN) packages. The devices are supported by the Actel Libero IDE v8.2 SP1. Device pricing starts at $0.99 for the A3P015 and AGL015 devices in volume.
Schurter’s 20A IEC inlet with EMI filter, series 5130 ECO design, meets the of IT, medical and industrial appliances. The 5130 combines an IEC C20 inlet with line filter in various mounting styles. The positive electrical contact of the broad metal flange to the chassis ensures optimal filtering and shielding. The units are available with current ratings 16A or 20A, depending on attenuation requirements. In addition to the standard version, medical filters with low leakage currents of <5A as well as types with X1 and Y1 capacitors for enhanced withstand voltage are also offered. Mounting options include a front or rear version for tradi-tional screw and nut mounting or rivet mounting. A version specifically for rear mounting features pre-formed threaded holes for M3 screws, which eliminates the handling of nuts and reduces labor costs. These benefits can also be achieved with the snap-in mounting style. Ter-minals accept 6.3x0.8 mm quick-connect tabs. The series is ENEC and cURus approved and complies with IEC/EN standards for office and medical equipment, 60950 and 60601-1 respectively.
Maxim Integrated Products introduces the MAX13410E–MAX13415E* half-duplex, RS-485/RS-422 transceivers with an integrated low-dropout (LDO) regulator. These transceivers utilize Maxim's proprietary AutoDirection control architecture to automatically enable the driver when transmitting data. AutoDirection control thus eliminates the need for a driver-enable control signal, as well as the optocouplers typically required for control-line isolation. To further save space and reduce cost, the integrated LDO regulator features a wide, +6V to +28V supply range, eliminating the need to regulate isolated power supplies. The MAX13410E–MAX13415E are ideal for isolated-metering, automotive, and industrial applications. These robust transceivers offer ±15kV ESD protection (Human Body Model) and thermal-shutdown protection. Additionally, they feature a 1/4-unit load-receiver input impedance, allowing up to 128 transceivers on the bus.
The MAX13410E/MAX13412E/MAX13414E* have slew-rate-limited drivers that reduce EMI for error-free transmission up to 500kbps in environments with high levels of radiated noise. The MAX13411E/MAX13413E/MAX13415E are not slew-rate limited and, therefore, allow data rates up to 16Mbps. The MAX13410E–MAX13415E are fully specified over the -40°C to +85°C extended temperature range and are available in an industry-standard, 8-pin SO package. Pricing starts at $1.49 (1000-up, FOB USA).
