The ZVEI-Fachverband Electronic Components and Systems reports that the turnover with semiconductors in Germany for August 2007 was slightly below that of the previous month. Compared to August 2005, the decrease was 5% after a decrease (corrected) of 4% compared to the previous month in July and a decrease of 3% in June. This negative development was caused to a large extend to the strong Euro. A change was not foreseen. Cumulated, the turnover in Germany in the first eight months of 2007 was still 3% below that of the same time period of the previous year.
The consolidation of turnover in Germany that took place in the middle of 2006 with its subsequent upwards trend has not been repeated in 2007. The already discounted expectations of the growth of the market to the end of 2007 thus retreat ever further, according to the ZVEI. Even a black zero could only be expected under very favourable conditions. The Book-to-Bill-Ratio in the previous month, with 1.01 was above the 1 for the first time in 6 months.
