08:00Toroidal High-Temperature Inductor
Vishay announced a toroidal, high-current, high-temperature inductor that offers the industry's highest rated and saturation current, and the industry’s lowest inductance and DCR. With a operating temperature rating to +200°C and a toroidal design to reduce EMI, the TJ3-HT inductor is optimized for switching power supplies, EMI/RFI filtering, and output chokes in automotive, and deep well drilling products.

The device offers designers horizontal and vertical mount options. With 10 standard inductance values to choose from, the inductor features a maximum DCR range from 0.108Ω down to 0.0016Ω when vertically mounted, and 0.118Ω to 0.002Ω when horizontally mounted. The TJ3-HT offers a inductance range from 100μH down to 0.39μH, with a current from 2.25A up to 32A, and saturation current from 1.15A up to 23A. The inductor provides low magnetic radiation and is RoHS compliant.

07:59Debugger Support for PowerPC440 processor in Xilinx Virtex-5 FXT platform
Lauterbach, the manufacturer of microprocessor development tools, has launched TRACE32 debugging tool support for the PowerPC 440 processor cores embedded in the recently announced Virtex5 FXT FPGA family, the System Integration Platform from Xilinx.

Building on its long-time support of the PowerPC440 processing architecture, Lauterbach has added Virtex-5 FXT FPGAs to its list of validated target devices. This is in addition to current TRACE32 support for the PowerPC405 processor found in earlier Virtex devices as well as the MicroBlaze soft processor. In multi-core designs, any combination of these cores can be debugged concurrently using a single TRACE32 debug interface.

TRACE32 supports all hardware debug features of the PowerPC440 core, access to ISOCM memories in Virtex-II Pro, Virtex-4 FX and Virtex-5 FXT devices, and flash programming. To conserve logic resources on the FPGA, Lauterbach also offers an off-chip real-time trace capability with sophisticated trace filters and triggers that stores data in up to 2GB of external high-speed memory. Additionally, there are kernel awareness extensions for µCLinux, Linux QNX, VxWorks, Nucleus PLUS and many other operating systems.
