08:53Wireless modem hardware solutions
Coresonic, a provider of baseband processor technology for multimode wireless modems, has announced complete hardware solutions which will allow semiconductor manufacturers to implement WiMax functionality into their semiconductor devices. The WiMax personality pack, based on the company's LeoCore programmable baseband processor technology, provides complete IEEE802.16 functionality, from the RF interface through to the central processor interface. Coresonic's WiMax personality pack supports the mobile WiMax 802.16e-2005 mobile system profile rev 1.4, which will support other modes such as 802.16d and 802.16j. The pack performs everything from ADC/DAC interface to FEC, including digital front-end signal conditioning, synchronization, MIMO channel estimation/compensation, error correction and chase combing. All blocks provided enable a complete solution from the RF interface to interfacing to a CPU (central processor) to run the MAC layer; the processing intensive elements are implemented in hardware to minimize the load on the MAC CPU.

08:51Warm white SMD LEDs with 1800 to 7100mcd
Vishay released two series of warm white power SMD LEDs. The VLMW611 series is offered in the CLCC-6 package, while the VLMW621 series features the CLCC-6 flat package, which offers an height profile of 0.9mm. The devices utilize InGan Technology to offer luminous intensity range of 1800mcd to 7100mcd. Their thermal resistance allows these devices to handle the additional current drive needed for maximum light output while maintaining a long service life of up to 50,000 hours. The LEDs are optimized for backlighting and illumination in automotive and transport, consumer, and general applications. Typical end products include handheld mobile devices, such as mobile phones and PDAs; instrument panels; marker lights; advertising displays; household appliances, such as refrigerators, washers, and driers; and bicycle lamps.

All devices have a 140-mA forward current, with a 4.3-V maximum forward voltage and 650-mW power dissipation. They provide an optical efficiency of 24lm/W and an ESD-withstand voltage up to 1kV according to JESD22-A114-B. The LEDs offer a 60° half-intensity angle, and are compatible with IR-reflow solder processes according to CECC 00802 and J-STD-020C. The devices are automotive qualified to AEC-Q101 and comply with RoHS 2002/95/EC and WEEE 2002/96/EC. Preconditioned according to JEDEC Level 4 standards, the CLCC-6 and CLCC6 flat packages are lead (Pb)-free and RoHS-compliant.
