09:38VGA chip sensor
OmniVision Technologies, a supplier of CMOS CameraChip solutions, announced that its OV7725 VGA CameraChip sensor for embedded notebook cameras is now shipping. The ¼-inch OV7725 is built with a 6x6 micron pixel to deliver the ultra-high light sensitivity required for the low light conditions in which most consumers use their notebook computers. The OV7725 is an integrated CMOS CameraChip sensor that provides the full functionality of a VGA camera and image processor on a single chip. A feature of the OV7725 is its high chief ray angle which allows for a reduction in module height, a critical element in building cameras that can fit in today’s thin notebook computers. The device is able to operate at 60 frames per second (fps) in VGA mode, or 120 fps in QVGA for optimal performance in PC multimedia and gaming applications. All required image processing functions including exposure control, gamma, white balance, color saturation and hue control can be programmed through the OV7725’s serial camera control bus (SCCB) interface. The OV7725 uses proprietary sensor technology to improve image quality by reducing or eliminating common lighting and electrical sources of image contamination such as fixed pattern noise, smearing and blooming to produce a crisp, clean and fully stable color image. The OV7725 comes in a lead-free, 28-pin CSP2 package and is currently available in volume quantities.

09:3650W and 100W AC-DC power adapters
Emerson Network Power launched two series of external ac-dc power adapters. These additions to the portfolio of Astec ac-dc power adapters produce fully regulated outputs, and feature a universal 90-264 Vac input. The 50 watt AD50 series power adapters produce a single 12 V output and can deliver up to 4.16 A continuously, while the new 100 watt AD100 series models produce a single 48 V output and can deliver up to 2.08 A continuously. Astec AD50 and AD100 series freestanding ac-dc power adapters provide a pre-approved power solution for a wide variety of portable and desktop applications, including instrumentation, telecommunications, computer peripheral and test and measurement systems.
The AD50 series adapters are also available with medical safety approvals for non-patient contact and non-patient critical use in low power medical, dental and laboratory applications. All Astec AD50 and AD100 series ac-dc power adapters are high efficiency switch-mode designs that comply with the One Watt Input Energy Star/Blue Angel requirement. The AD50 series have a typical power conversion efficiency of 80%, while the AD100 series offer an even higher figure of 90%. The AD50 series adapters are available with a choice of a 3-pin (type C6) or 2-pin (type C8) IEC320 ac input receptacle, to accommodate customers' desired configuration of line cord. The 3-pin versions of the adapters have a safety-ground leakage current of 300 µA maximum, while the 2-pin versions offer an even lower figure of just 100 µA. The adapters' dc output is provided via a cable fitted with a standard 2.5 mm I.D, 5.5 mm O.D. barrel plug.
AD50 series power adapters have a full load ambient operating temperature range of 5sC to +40sC without de-rating, while the AD100 series offers a slightly wider operating range of 0sC to +40sC. All the adapters are protected against overvoltage and overpower conditions, with automatic recovery, and have a MTBF of 300,000 hours at full load and 25sC ambient. They all comply with the EN55022-B and FCC part 15 Level B EMC standards for conducted noise and meet all applicable immunity standards, including EN61000-4-2, -3, -4, -5, -6, -8 and -11 levels 3. The power adapters also carry a set of safety approvals, including UL/CSA 60950-1,VDE/CB EN60950-1 and CE Mark. The medical versions of the AD50 have the following certifications: UL/CSA60601-1, VDE EN60601-1 and CE Mark LVD.
Pricing starts at US$28.00 for the AD50 models, US$32.00 for the AD50 medical models, and US$56.00 for the AD100 models, in OEM quantities.
