09:2535V rated Polymer Tantalum Capacitor
KEMET announced a 35V rated Polymer Tantalum Capacitor. Through advancements in materials and manufacturing techniques, KEMET has successfully constructed and qualified the first polymer capacitors suitable for applications of up to 28V continuous duty. In addition, these devices have demonstrated surge voltage handling capabilities in excess of 46V. This increase in voltage provides designers working on higher voltage applications, such as those with 24V and 28V power input rails, the option of incorporating polymer tantalum technology with its significant performance advantages, into new designs.
Designated the T521 series, KEMET’s initial offering is in the V case size (7.3mm x 4.3mm x 1.9mm) with a capacitance of 15µF and a maximum ESR rating of 100 milliohms. Future releases will include taller case heights of 3.0mm with target capacitance values of 22µF and 33µF plus smaller footprint devices (3.5mm x 2.8mm x 2.0mm) targeting capacitance values of 6.8µF and less. The T521 series has high ripple current capability and endurance of 1000 hours at 125ºC. The Pb free, RoHS compliant devices have a safe failure mode and an operating temperature range of -55ºC to +125ºC. Mass production quantities will be available during the first quarter of 2008.
